A calm home for devotion
World of Hindus brings together temples, deities, aartis and festivals in one simple, easy-to-read place, made especially with our elders in mind.
Why we started
Think about the last time you tried to find the words of an aarti on your phone for a parent or grandparent. Tiny text, pop-ups everywhere, three different versions of the same line, and a video that starts playing on its own. We wanted to make something better for them: a calm place where the words are big, the facts are checked, and nothing is trying to sell them fear.
What you'll find here
Temple guides that tell you what you actually need before you go, including how easy it is for an older person to get around. Aartis and chalisas in Hindi and English letters, in large print. Festival guides with simple, step-by-step puja you can follow at home. And a daily panchang, calculated carefully for your city.
How we write and check our content
- Accuracy first. Temple timings, festival dates and panchang calculations are checked against official temple sources and established panchangs. Where traditions differ, we say so instead of pretending there's only one answer.
- Lyrics follow the most widely sung versions. Regional variants exist, and we note them where it matters.
- Plain, warm language. We write the way a knowledgeable family elder would explain things, not like a textbook.
- No fear-selling. We will never tell you that something terrible will happen unless you buy a remedy.
- Images are either public-domain works, such as Raja Ravi Varma's paintings, or photos used under their licence, with credit under each one.
Corrections
We will get things wrong sometimes. If you spot a mistake, whether it's a wrong timing, a misspelt line of an aarti or a temple detail that has changed, please use our correction form. We read every message and fix errors quickly.
